Boss Bottled
Armani Code
Diesel - Only the Brave
Dolce & Gabanna - The One
Abercrombie & Fitch - Fierce (Don’t knock it)
What do all five fragrances above have in common? Well firstly, they’re all fantastic scents that have been raved about for years. Secondly, and more importantly, they’re sprayed on the necks of many a man throughout the world.
A man’s aftershave is his identity (more or less) and unless you want to be viewed as just another Jimmy from the bloc, my advice to you is to invest - invest being the key word by the way - in a fragrance that sets you apart from the rest.
You're looking for something that makes a statement but is also understated. Something that demands attention without being intrusive to the senses of others. (insert confused face emoji)
Now, before I give you my top five, I’m not saying for one minute that these are must buys - in fact I'm almost saying the opposite. The below are all very highly regarded within the echelons of men’s fragrances and successfully achieve the desired juxtaposed effect I spoke of earlier. In essence, they deliver that killer blow, where others my be slightly lacking. Find the one that does this for you.
Creed — Aventus
Penhalligion - Portraits the Tragedy of Lord George
Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille
Chanel - Bleu
Acqua Di Parma - Colonia
It's still important that you have a number of everyday scents and there are plenty of affordable options in high street stores such as Zara and Massimo Dutti.
To Summarise:
Always have an aftershave in your possession that is unique to you, at least amongst your inner circle. I know it may sound pernickety but imagine being identifiable by your scent - and for all the right reasons.
Never spray cologne on your clothes - just like stale smoke, it lingers, whereas as if you spray it on wet skin, after a hot shower, your pores will still be open and the scent will seep into your skin, as if its your very own scent.
