Everyone has so much stuff these days. The clutter within your average household, masked by wardrobe doors and cupboards under the stairs or stores in giant Ikea bags, is getting seriously out of hand.
There is a notion for people to constantly purchase new items, mainly due to that fuzzy feeling we get from using or wearing something fresh. I'm very guilty of this myself.
So, I thought I'd produce a list of five potential prized possessions - items you should invest in and then cherish.
Sunglasses
There are two types of people in this world. Those who invest in sunglasses, care for them immensely and very rarely lose them. And then there are people like me; who refuse to pay premium price because 'we know' we're going to misplace or break them.
It's amazing how ones mindset can change when you pay a little more for something. Et voila, suddenly you're aware of your sunglasses whereabouts 24-7.

Diary / Journal
Most of you will store all of your meetings, appointments and social plans on your smart phone - and I get it, it's the most efficient way to plan your life and what's more, it provides a reminder in advance.
Personally, I still get great satisfaction from scoring out a task I've completed, or writing down my thoughts, or a plan on paper - especially in the workplace.
That said, I lost about 150 notepads in my life...And then I finally took the hit and invested in a superior one. I had it for an entire year and used it religiously. Lesson learnt.

Watches
'Why wear a watch when I have my iPhone?' A phrase I have heard consistently for a few years now and something that makes me wince every time.
If watches existed simply to tell the time, there wouldn't exist so many exceptional brands busting a gut to produce stunning products that represent so much more than just a tool to keep the time.
Most chaps understand the value of a good watch, however if you're still umming and ahhing, here's a few recommendations.
Affordable and elegant: Daniel Wellington
Globally renowned quality: Oris
007 Standard: Omega
Knife Set
Bit of a culinary curveball here but I've really started to enjoy cooking; especially now I have not one, but two quality sets of knives in my kitchen. Chopping with a blunt knife will test your mental resilience as much as anything (Ross Gregor I'm sure you understand what I mean).
At the time of purchase, you may think what a waste of money but I almost guarantee your cooking experience will be totally transformed when that sweet potato is sliced and diced with ease.

Umbrella
The average life expectancy of an umbrella (and by this I mean the time it stays within the possession of the purchaser) is alarmingly low - if they were animals, they would be an endangered species.
Similarly to sunglasses, it's quality over quantity every time.
Please let me know if you can think of any other things to add to this list!
