The Daddy of All Father's Day Guides

Father's Day is just around the corner (21st June FYI).

Dads are usually extremely difficult to buy for. What do you get a man who has everything? I've noticed the gifts I get the old man, often find themselves either in my possession or unopened a year down the line. Sound familiar? Keep reading, this one's for you.

This year I've decided to think practically; try these for size...

Dad: ‘So, I’m drinking spirits but I’m not getting drunk? You’re going to have to run me through this one again, son.’

A common reaction from the wonderful dads who aren’t quite up to speed with the low alcohol content movement.

Allow me to recommend Clean Liquor; amazing flavour, but very low in alcohol and sugar content. And no hangover.

Gift-wrapped underwear and socks have long been expected by dads around the country on Christmas, birthdays and Father’s Day, and they’ve often had to do their best ‘pleasantly surprised’ face, which is often unconvincing.

Get on board with the deserved hype surrounding Arlo Hudson underwear, and give your dad something to (actually) smile about.

A Pair of Sunglasses He Won't Lose

Speaking of things the old man would brag about on the golf course, how about a pair of sunglasses stemming from revolutionary craftsmanship?

Our friends at Banton Frameworks HQ have innovated sunglasses made from sustainable synthetic plastics, Ebonite and Galalith, which look amazing.

They’re slightly on the pricier side but I’m sure your dad would be extra careful with them…and they look awesome.

Aesop Post Poo drops

Effectively neutralises disagreeable smells with crisp notes of citrus peel and discreet florals.

Dad takes the hint. Mum will approve.

Aesop is where these come from.

Raasay Gin

A family owned distillery with a brilliant tasting gin – And since DFH (drinking from home) could be the norm for the foreseeable, you want quality spirits in the house.

The bottle is also beautiful, paying homage to the island from whence it came. It could also be a brilliant candle holder, once the gin is consumed.

Ooni Koda Pizza Oven

Whilst all ‘regular dads’ are getting giddy over their BBQs (so last year), your dad can boast about bringing the pizza game outdoors, with this amazing contraption.

No assembly, no mess, no fuss. And pizza in 60 seconds. Ooni Koda is the way forward.

Mindful Chef Subscription

In a nutshell (or a cardboard box): fresh, delicious, nutritionist-designed recipes delivered to your doorstep.

What’s more, for every meal you buy, they donate a meal to a child in poverty.

Soda Stream

In a nutshell, this ‘gismo’ allows you to make sparkling water in seconds.

I think this may constitute to one with the ability to be bragged about on the golf course, but also as a magic trick to perform for the grand kids.

And if your dad happens to love sparkling water, then even better.

Got to be Soda stream.

Craft Beer Subscription

If your dad is a staunch lager man, who only drinks mainstream beers, this probably isn’t for him.

However, if he’s accustomed to a tipple of weird and wonderful craft beer combos, this could be perfect for him.

Beer 52 offers £24.99 a month for 10 different beers – More of a tasteful journey round the world, rather than an excuse for a monthly session.

Sphere Ice Cube Mould

Ready for the only science lesson I’ll ever give?

The less surface area that is exposed to warm liquid, the slower ice melts. Therefore, a sphere of ice will melt more slowly in a drink than a cube of ice. This way, you can chill the drink without quickly diluting it.

Present the Spherical mould alongside the above fact and he’s sure to be happy – This awesome mould from M&S will be something to brag about to his golf buddies.

Wine Decanter

During lockdown, Pops and I found some amazing bottles of wine from local supermarkets. Carcassones, Bordeauxs and a Chateauneuf Du Pape could be found at super affordable prices, and adorned our wine racks on the reg. Dad’s daily venture outside consisted of a run and then purchasing at least one bottle of wine to add to his collection.

All that was missing was a beautiful decanter to allow the wine more breathing room. My personal pick from the list for this year; I'm opting for a beauty from Villeroy & Boch...Come to papa.
